Talk therapy focuses on exploring your thoughts, emotions, and experiences through conversation. It helps you gain insight, develop coping strategies, and understand patterns in your life.
EMDR works differently. Instead of relying mostly on talking, it uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, tapping, or sound) to help your brain reprocess distressing memories at a deeper, neurological level. This allows the emotional “charge” of past experiences to soften so you can respond with more clarity, regulation, and resilience.
Many clients appreciate that EMDR feels more active and targeted, especially for trauma, anxiety, and long-standing patterns that haven’t shifted through talk therapy alone.
